Iâm excited to see how colour blocking has become so on trend â in bathrooms, feature walls, in lingerie, leisure wear, in the choice of dining chairs or a contrasting ottoman. There is so much scope here for making a bold colour statement.
Colour blocking has always been one of my favourite techniques. Itâs an exploration of taking colours that are opposites on the colour wheel and pairing them together to make interesting and complementary colour combinations. Colour blocking is usually used in graphic shapes to create a striking impact and vibrant energy. I bring this practice to every aspect of my interiors.
For me, colour is medicine so I say, live boldly and have fun. Never be afraid to express yourself through colour.
TIPS
- Try a graphic mix of bright paint, upholstery and flooring to inject a room with playful personality and dimension.
- Choose a couple of bold pieces and place them against a contrasting wall or find a geometric rug to tell a story.
- For strong results combine unexpected colours like teal and red or purples and coral.
- Think about colour blocking with your table settings â napkins, plates and placemats are ripe for bold combinations.
- Manchester is the perfect place for colour blocking â bathroom towels, sheet sets and by the pool, get creative with your choice of guest towels.
- Beautiful curtains can be the perfect colour vehicle, to contract with other furnishings. Change them seasonally too for an added level of colour joy.
