At T.House we do everything we can to contribute to our charity partners, but did you know it’s not simply selling products and drawing cheques?

The value we offer is a community effort. We have been able to gather together volunteers to produce 1000 sandwiches to Aussie kids who would otherwise go hungry. We volunteer our time to source furniture, white goods, bedding, electrical goods and kitchen equipment to homes across Victoria that house young fostered parents, children and young adults.

We work hard to develop corporate relationships and create meaningful campaigns and event ideas that gain both social and media exposure. The events we host provide our charity partners with an opportunity to build relationships and networks with like-minded people, donors, influencers and corporations.

And lastly we are building community through our subscriber base and social platforms. Each of these things are not only fun, educational and inspirational, they are another channel for us to share all the wonderful things we are doing at T.House to create that contribution.

In 2013, Eat Up’s founder, Lyndon Galea, read an article in the Shepparton newspaper about students who regularly attended school without lunch. Hunger was leading to fatigue, problems concentrating, disruptive behaviour and poor learning outcomes. Compelled to help, Lyndon developed a simple solution to a complex issue.

Today, Eat Up’s mission is to provide lunch to some of the most vulnerable children in our community, to help children take advantage of learning opportunities, succeed in education and break the poverty cycle

For children who go to school without food to fuel their growing bodies and brains, missing out on lunch has a big impact, with hunger leading to fatigue and poor concentration. This commonly leads to learning difficulties and behavioural problems in school, with disadvantaged children falling further behind their peers.

Many of the children come from homes experiencing financial hardship, substance abuse, violence, homelessness or are refugees.

The special part of Eat Up’s approach is engaging communities, schools and corporate groups who regularly come together to help prepare over 11,000 sandwiches a week. Being supported by thousands of volunteers ensures Eat Up is inexpensive and sustainable, and also raises awareness of the important social issue of food insecurity.
Once sandwiches are prepared, Eat Up delivers them fresh to over 500 schools, along with healthy snacks. Schools then freeze the sandwiches, and toast them up daily when they’re needed. Many food items are donated by food supply partners, with remaining ingredients purchased with donated funds.

Inspired by a big heart and brain, the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation was created in June 2013 in the memory of Robert ‘Connor’ Dawes. We are battling paediatric brain tumours and supporting brain matters in the areas of research, care and development – to fund the science to end brain cancer and support patients in the meantime.

Research

Contributing funds to Australia and international brain cancer research to enable researchers to further understand and more completely treat brain tumours, including earlier detection, surgery and post surgery treatments (radiation & chemotherapy).

Care

Supporting families by organising and funding emotionally invaluable rehabilitation therapies and home assistance. During treatment Connor had weekly music and yoga therapy on top of his standard rehabilitation. These programs give comfort to both the patient and the family are often not covered by insurance.

Development

Inspiring the next generation of brain cancer practitioners & researchers. Through awareness programs, Phd Scholarships and youth engagement activities, we’re putting brain matters on the map.

Their Mission

Brain cancer is the most fatal of all childhood cancers. Current clinical treatments only help 50% of children, but leave 90% with lifelong physical and mental impairments. This is why brain tumours are so devastating, and why we’re on a mission to change the odds and make brain tumours go the way of the dinosaurs.

For the past 30 years, Lighthouse Foundation has worked with vulnerable young people at risk of homelessness and children who need loving foster families. Over 1000 young people have been helped by Lighthouse Foundation to restart their lives and finish their education. This is done by providing a safe and loving home, with a community that cares for them and helps them to recover from the tough beginnings of their lives. Our carers, psychologists and local volunteers in the community form a circle of support around each Lighthouse home, and help each child and young person regain the confidence that they are worthy of love, and have unique gifts to show the world. After leaving the ‘Lighthouse nest’, almost all of our kids go on to lead productive, meaningful and happy adult lives, with 8/10 young people never returning to homelessness.

Since the Lighthouse Foundation is almost entirely self-funded through our generous circle of supporters, we wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for contributing to our cause by purchasing your T.House gift today. Kind people like you make our life-changing work possible, and give us hope for the next generation of young people to walk through our doors and break the cycle of youth homelessness forever.
