I’m Tina Nettlefold, founder of T.House. I’m an interior stylist, serial renovator and philanthropist, living my dream empty nester life. I’ve left my career in the corporate world behind (my previous role was media director/strategist for a leading ad agency ), to follow my heart. I have always adored major renovation projects, styling, beautiful interiors, making amazing food (it’s my Greek heritage) and I love, love, love to throw a party. I live by the motto: “Live big, love big.”
Beyond the room reveals, before and afters, cleaning hacks and inspiration, T.House has a true purpose. T.House is testimony to my belief that it is never too late to do something you love. While others might be considering retirement, I have launched T.House, a beautifully curated range of homewares, hampers, scents, gifts and limited edition pieces, each item designed to add beauty and joy to those who use it, with a genuine connection to the charities T.House supports.
As a not-for-profit, 100% of T.House profits are donated to three charities close to my heart – the Lighthouse Foundation, Eat Up and the Robert Dawes Foundation ($100K so far!). Our mission is to turn everyday shopping into charitable giving and in the process shine a light on amazing local charities that support disadvantaged Australian children with food, shelter and better healthcare.
I invite you to follow my daily escapades on Insta, YouTube and TikTok. I’m here to inspire you on all things; styling, renovating, cooking & cleaning. It’s all about doing what you love and I truly believe as a community we can make a big difference.
Join the T.House community and get ready to have some fun.
Have you ever told yourself you can’t do something because of your age?
Have you stopped yourself from finally chasing your dreams because you think it’s too late, or just felt like you should simply stick to what you know? Whether it’s a new hobby, trying out a new activity or even changing your career, you are not alone in thinking this way.
When it comes to making big changes or trying something completely new later in life, we often tell ourselves that we can’t. We lose the ‘I can tackle anything’ attitude we had in our 20s and second-guess ourselves because suddenly we’ve reached ‘a certain age’. Of course, taking on something new can be scary. But scary does not mean impossible!
If you don’t believe, I am living proof that you are never too old to chase your dreams. I took a step back from my professional career when I became a mum to three boys, but once they were all grown up I felt like I had lost my purpose. It wasn’t until I hit that milestone 60th birthday that I decided to follow my passion for interiors, fashion and lifestyle and channel it into a not-for-profit with a focus on charity and heart. THouse was born!
So many of today’s successful people also made the jump into a new career path later in life. Harrison Ford was a carpenter before he landed his role in Star Wars at 38. Alyce Tran was a corporate lawyer at a major law firm before making the move to full-time business owner of Australian personalised accessories brand The Daily Edited. Change is possible and it can be for you too.
So, don’t wait! Sign up to that adult ballet class, go back to studying, run your first marathon, make your own jewellery, play an instrument, or even learn a new language. Whatever it is, age simply should not be in the equation.
Live big. Love big.
Tina Nettlefold is a charismatic Melbournian with an
unapologetic lust for life. She’s houseproud, larger than life and
lives life in technicolor. Tina lives by the mantra ‘it’s never too
late to do something you love, no matter your age’.
At 60, Tina is living the “empty nester’s” dream – three sons have
flown the coop, she has a dashing husband by her side and great
projects on the boil. She is overseeing major renovations for her
clients (and her own dream coastal property), she has launched
her bold new philanthropic project T.House and she is posting
daily on her thriving social media feeds.
While she shares her incredible home transformations on her
T.House Instagram page, she also has a large and loyal following
on her personal account where she provides useful household
tips; from table styling and floral arrangements, to clever cooking
and cleaning tips.
Tina’s renaissance follows a period where she “found herself at a
crossroads”; having le behind the advertising industry and
having raised her three sons, Tina was hungry for a new mission
and dream. With this came the creation of T.House, an online
platform that will over Tina’s new philanthropic collection of
limited-edition homeware essentials – with 100% of profits
donated to a charity that Tina believes in. Her objective: not
simply to make everyday items more inspiring, but to turn
everyday shopping into charitable giving.
Tina is also a professional Interior Stylist. Her bold, imaginative,
light-filled interiors reflect her European heritage and extensive
travels. She brings to each project her unique understanding of
materials, light and space and encyclopaedic knowledge of
furniture, fashion, art, objects and gardens.
She lives by the motto: “Live big, love big.”
And she’s certainly doing that.
Are you a socially conscious consumer?
Have you ever stopped to question where your money actually
goes or considered how your spending impacts the world around
you?
Here at T.House, these questions are at the forefront of our
minds. We believe taking social responsibility is the key to
positive change and that businesses should be making it easier
for consumers to be socially responsible with their spending.
Shopping is such a routine and regular aspect of our lives and the
COVID-19 pandemic saw an exponential growth in online
shopping in particular. Australia Post reported that a whopping
nine million households made online purchases in 2020, with 1.3
of those nine million making their very first online orders.
Spending money has never been easier.
But have you thought about whether the businesses and
corporations you’re supporting through your purchases actually
align with your values? Do you know if they are ethical and
moving towards a more sustainable future, or if they pay living
wages for their labour? Do you not think businesses should be
held to a higher standard?
These are the questions the modern consumer should be asking.
In recent years we have seen a major shift towards this idea of
social responsibility, thrusting businesses and corporations alike
into the spotlight. The modern shopper wants fantastic
high-quality products that come from a socially-minded,
sustainable and ethical place and will divert their funds away
from businesses that don’t engage with these values.
This is the type of consumer we think about here at THouse.
This consumer wants a cutting edge product white still doing well
by the community. That’s why when we come together with our
partner charities – Eat Up Australia, The Lighthouse Foundation
and the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation – we try to make our
high quality products as sustainable as possible.
For us, charity simply means kindness.
Kindness towards not only those receiving the benefit of the work
led by fantastic organisations such as Eat Up, but towards our
community in general. Through our collaboration with our
partner charities, we are acting on our firm belief that all
businesses should be held to a higher standard. Be it simply
supporting a charity or sourcing their products in a more
sustainable and ethical way – it shouldn’t be hard for businesses
to create an effective change.
At THouse, this positive change means ensuring that the
majority of our products are as recyclable as possible and
sourcing as much as we can from local Australian artists, creators
and businesses.
Admittedly, on our journey to becoming a more socially
responsible organisation we did discover that it is very difficult to
be 100 per cent Australian-made or entirely environmentally
friendly. Some items are simply not made in Australia. However,
we have still managed to make the majority of our products reach
that standard and will continue to try to hit that mark. In fact, we
have even managed to help other businesses implement more
sustainable practices along our journey. If we can do it as a small
not-for-profit, then it shouldn’t be too difficult to conceive of the
big corporations doing it too.
After all, shouldn’t we all be doing our part?
Of course, THouse is only one piece of a much bigger puzzle.
You need to do your part too. So, when it comes to your next gift,
homewares purchase or corporate gift, we implore you to
consider buying a product that has heart. Not only will you
receive a beautiful product, but you will be giving back to
charities who do wonderful things with the ease of clicking a
button. You can rest assured that your money is going to the right
place, with 100 per cent of our profits going to charity and all
administrative costs covered by THouse’s founder Tina
Nettlefold.
We all need a little bit of support at one stage or another, and
through the thoughtfulness of buying from somewhere like us
you can help feed, house or medically assist a child in need whilst
taking home a fabulous bespoke and long-lasting product.
Join the movement and be a part of the positive change. Choose
kindness. Choose THouse.
