Your home is all about you and how you like to live. For me, interiors are not about chasing the latest trend, they are about creating spaces to truly live in and enjoy, injected with the personalities of the people who live there.
I love to add those features to an interior that reflect who you truly are – a new interior floorplan needs to express personality; through adding a home bar to the formal entertaining area; creating an oversized kitchen bench for Friday night drinks at home; or quiet reading areas in the lounge.
It is through little details – choosing a splashback in your very favourite colour; adding custom shelving to display treasured collections and memorabilia that will express your personality beautifully.
My top tips for injecting personality:
- Invest in the details. Artworks, door handles, textures, wallpapers, decorative trays, even the storage in your pantry… there are so many ways to express your personality. Have fun.
- Work with your interior designer to pinpoint your personal colour palette.
- Less is more. Balance the injections of personality with a cohesive interior style.
- A new interior is a great opportunity to declutter and refine your tastes which will continually evolve. If you don’t love it, get rid of it (donate or recycle) and only keep things you truly treasure.
