For almost 30 years, this perfectly positioned weatherboard beach house near the idyllic Diamond Bay in Sorrento has played host to family and friends for endless pool, slumber and dinner parties, games nights, Easter feasts, New Year’s Eves and 18ths. “Everything in the home has a story,” says Tina.
From its very beginnings and over two successive renovations, the four-bedroom beach house has become a true compound that perfectly balances the requirement for rest and relaxation with Tina’s love of entertaining, luxury and flashes of colour. Guests can be partying by the pool while Tina retreats to her private sleeping and living quarters, complete with Hollywood dressing table.
Whether it is the white and blue porcelain collection, the wooden and beaded chandeliers, the figurative paintings by local artists, a Greek salon or the collection of yachting paraphernalia, the house is a true reflection of the Nettlefold personalities.
Originally Tina filled the house with a 40-foot container of treasures gathered through her time when her family was based in Indonesia and travelled extensively through Vietnam, Cambodia and China. Hand-carved bedheads, teak dowry chests, porcelain and decorative wall friezes feature throughout the 55 square-metre home. (A crane was required to place many pieces).
