Homemade Jam

Ingredients list
- ½ kg fruit of choice
- 1 cup of sugar
- ½ lemon’s juice – this is important because the pectin works as the setting agent in the jam
- Lemon rind strips – for more flavour
Method
- Combine all your ingredients in a small saucepan.
- Simmer the mixture on low heat for about 30 minutes, or until the jam reaches a gelatinous texture that coats the back of a spatula.
- Remove the lemon rind and allow the jam to cool completely.
- Sterilise a jar for your jam by thoroughly washing it with hot water, then place it in an oven without a fan at 160°C for 20-30 minutes.
- Once cooled, carefully transfer your homemade jam into the sterilised jar.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks and enjoy!
